This week was quite a hectic week i could say. 3 practical tests went on, meaning 3 reports due by this week. Had phy test n bio group presentation too...
I broke 2 apparatus in just 1 week! Omigosh!! xD From wad i rmb, i nvr broke any b4 n now i broke 2 in a row!! haha... i'm so cho lo, rite? But but... not totally my fault okayy...
Monday
Time : Chem period
Experiment : Molar enthalphy of primary alcohols (Assessed)
Apparatus : 100ml measuring cylinder
Description :
Was holding n reading the thermometer while preparing to take the Bunsen burner away den due to my lab coat with big sleeve, the measuring cylinder filled wif water fell down n broke! How could i broke it during tat time?? It's practical test somemore!! Luckily, i'm not penalised for tat. =) I wasn't asked to pay for it, prob Ms Kwa forgot to ask me to pay for it. Hehe...

Apparatus : Delivery tube
Description :
Repeating the expt as our data obtained the previous week was reli horrible. We did sooo many big mistakes as we were too desperate to get a better data. Haha! n we were so high! U'll see wad i mean soon...
Beginning of the expt...
Me : *Shaking the boiling tube*
Charlene : Y are u so gentle? Shake it harder!
Me : Err... okayy... *Shaking abit harder*
Charlene : No, harder! U should see how vigorous Ashlea shook it last week...
Ashlea : *amqio*
Me : Reli? okok... *Shook even harder* *Banging the boiling tube, which was placed in the water bath, against the bottom of the styrofoam cup*
Charlene : Yea.. tat's the way. See, so many bubbles coming out dy....
Me : Yea... *happy* *shook even harder*
Supposed to maintain the temperature of the water bath by sucking out the cooled down water n putting in hot water in using dropper...
Me : So tiring la... (had been sucking out n putting in hot water constantly) Only can suck out n put in so lil water at a time. Sigh..
Wan Dien : Let's jz use the syringe (which was for transferring the yeast suspension into the boiling tube)
Me : But there's still some yeast suspension in it ler...
Wan Dien : Nvm lah. it wont affect the expt
Me : Okok...
*I used the dropper, she used the syringe, i used the dropper, she used the syringe, ... (marching coordination)* *laughing away*
Half way thru the expt...
Wan Dien : Ey, JiaJia... The concentration of glucose solution has changed to 20% already izit?
Me : Err.. Yea?... U din know??
Wan Dien : Omg, i took the 10% one jz now!
Me : Har?? Quick quick, change the solution n redo again. Still got enuf time..
Wan Dien : Okok *rushing to get all the solutions needed*
Me : *Getting the apparatus ready*
Re-did the expt all over again...
When we were both tired of even using the syringe to maintain the temp of the water bath...
Me : Wan Dien, quick quick.. add more water.. the temp is dropping!!
Wan Dien : Okok. Let's jz pour the hot water in... faster!!
Me : Smart!! *laffing*
After a few times of pouring the hot water from the beaker directly into the polystyrene cup thru the hole its cover.... We did smth even more ridiculous!! Lol xD
Me : The temp is dropping again! It's below 50 degree Celcius already! n water bath is overflowing!!
Wan Dien : *kinteo*
Me : Let's jz take the boiling tube out n pour out the cooled down water directly from the cup n pour in hot water. It'll be faster...
Wan Dien : Okok *did wad i said* *both laffing away*
Charlene : *Shocked at seeing wad we were doing* Aren't u suppose to keep the boiling tube in the 55 degree celcius water bath all the time??
Wan Dien : Nvmlah... Lidat faster! haha...
Charlene : *laffing away too*
Few minutes later...
Wan Dien : JiaJia, the styrofoam cup is leaking! (the table was all wet)
Me : Omg!! *shaking the boiling tube*
Wan Dien : *getting tissue n cleaning the puddle of water*
Not long later, the water from the water bath was practically flowing out... there was a hole on the bottom of the cup!! From constant banging of the boiling tube on the bottom shud be!! lol! *Both laughing away*
Both : Oh my goodness!!! hahaha...*more n more water was flowing out*
Me : Get another styrofoam cup! Quick!! *still shaking*
*moved the boiling tube into the new cup and continued with the experiment*
Not long later...
I was shaking the boiling tube n suddenly felt the bend of the delivery tube was not "kena"king the measuring cylinder anymore while shaking.
Me : Wan Dien!!! The delivery tube was broken!!!! Omgggg!!! *laffing away*
Wan Dien : *Shocked n laffing away after tat too* Oh My Goodness! Wad did u do?? Hahaha...
Me : Quick get another delivery tube! Our air bubbles!!!
The delivery tube was replaced n we all were laffing away. Me laffed till stomache xD
Not long later... Again...
Me : Omggg, it's leaking again!!! *laffing away* Get another cup! Jz stack it at the bottom of the leaking cup. Not muj time left already...
Continued with the expt.
We continued to pour in the hot water directly form the beaker to maintain the temp of the water bath. But, we din haf to pour out any water from the cup anymore cuz............................... the water was practically flowing out continuously from the edge of the cup, which was stacked at the bottom!!! hahhahahah!!! Our table was all wet n full of wet toilet papers! lol!
At the end of the expt...
Wan Dien : JiaJia, u see...there's a hole on the bottom of the cup!
Me : Omg!! hahahahaha
Paid 3.5 bucks only for the delivery tube. Tot it would be much more expensive. Saw Yu Ling's name on the book too. She broke a delivery tube too...

Was so low n tired after the expt. Prob was tooo high during the expt n stayed up late to do revision for phy test the previous nite. haha...
